ABSTRACT

The program EMTLab is used to mathematical model in thunder of a lightning and the sounds of the discharges in the high-voltage equipment. The program uses electromechanical analogies. Thus the source of a sound of the dischages is similar to the generator of electrical pulses, the sound propagation medium is similar to the passive electrical filter of low frequency, the signal of a microphone is similar to oscilloscope record, and the signal of the ultrasonic gauge with mechanical resonances is similar to an electrical signal in the circuit with electrical resonances. The splashes of high frequencies are observed in the spectrogram of real signals of thunder or discharges in isolation. These splashes characterize pulses of a sound on an input of the microphone. Using these splashes, it is possible to restore initial short pulses, impulse responds within sound propagation medium, and to receive the wave form of model close to the wave form of a real signal. It proves the validity of the model. The model of thunder is presented. Having detected electrical impulses synchronous with the initial acoustic pulse, it is possible to confidently locate defects in high-voltage equipment. Examples of simulation of discharge sounds associated with defects in the insulation of a high-voltage cable junction and with a defect in the voltage regulator of a power transformer are given.

Keywords: acoustic pulses of discharge processes, electromechanical analogies, propagation of sound waves, pulsed transient function of the medium.
